Neal Adams Dies: Comic Book Legend Who Revitalized Batman
In the late 1960s, comic book artist Neal Adams worked with DC Comics and writer Dennis O’Neil to revive legendary comic book superhero Batman and Robin, repairing their reputation from the campy yet beloved Batman TV show. The villains, especially The Joker and Two-Face, became less comical stooges and more insidious and treacherous. Batman himself was placed into a three-dimensional environment with topical contemporary complications and dark, dangerous dilemmas to overcome.
Neal Adams also worked with DC Comics to revamp both the Green Lantern and Green Arrow characters, including redesigning Green Lantern as the first Black superstar superhero.
